Happy Hair

Our goal was to illustrate the disrupting nature of everyday style. Everyone — from writers to real estate agents — are tinting their tresses rainbow bold. You see them — on the streets, the subway, the country grocery store — but you don’t see them enough in the media! These real-life beauties are workin’ their locks — some have been doing so for decades, others more recently. This is an excellent example of not following cookie-cutter idealizations of beauty. The women we found are diverse in race, age, style. We chose to photograph them very simply to highlight their personalities. They’re giving a whole new meaning to blue-haired ladies!
